Welcome to

MyBackyardBirds.com!

We all see them flying around our backyards ... whether you live in the countryside or on a small inner city lot, you're bound to have some birds visiting your yard.  But what kind of birds are they? And how can you attract more, different birds?

The internet is full of birding information.  But sometimes the scope of that information is a little intimidating for the beginning birder who just wants to learn more about the birds in their yard.  That's why we're here.  We provide the basics you need to know about the birds in your yard, plus tips on how to attract more birds with feeders, water features, birdhouses, and landscaping.  Once you get hooked on watching the birds in your yard, you may want to venture further afield and learn more about the birds you'll find in more wild places ... but for now, we'll stick to what you're likely to find right there in your own backyard.

Record
Your Observations

You can keep track of your wild bird observations online at ebird.org, a joint project developed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society.  ebird provides a simple way for you to record the birds you see anywhere in the North America.   You can retrieve information on your bird observations at any time for your personal use.  The information collected in the ebird database is also used by birdwatchers, scientists, and conservations who are studying the distribution and migration of birds across the continent.  An interactive website makes it easy to enter data and view your results - and information from the entire database.  There are no fees associated with using ebird.
